The term ‘luxury wine‘ is still little understood or appreciated in Europe, but in the US, it is very firmly established as a clearly-defined sector of the wine industry. Companies such as Gallo and Constellation have luxury wine departments and executives that focus specifically on super-premium and ‘collectible‘ wines.

Trinchero Family Estates which is famous for its ground-breaking inexpensive, high-volume Sutter Home white Zinfandels and best-selling Menage a Trois wines, as well as its partnerships with successful brands like Joel Gott and Three Thieves is increasingly focusing on prestigious wines from its own estates. In 2017, it built a Winemaker’s Studio‘ in St Helena specifically for luxury wines, and it is here that Aimée Bakerm who moved into wine after a previous career at a high level as a rowing coach, will take charge of luxury wines from brands including Bravium, Mason Cellars, Neyers Vineyards, ZIATA and Trinchero Napa Valley.
