Dosio Group of the Italian IT magnate Gianfranco Lanci has bought the traditional Coppo winery from Canelli (Asti province). After 125 years of family history, the Coppos are handing over ownership of 52 hectares of vineyards in important Piedmont DOCGs (Asti, Gavi Barolo), including their winery with its underground "cathedral", which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Parts of the family remain active in decisive positions to ensure continuity. Paolo Coppo will take care of exports, while his son Luigi will serve on the board of directors and Paolo's brother Roberto will continue to manage production.

Gianfranco Lanci from Piedmont is president and COO of Lenovo Group (computers and smartphones), and before that he was president and CEO of Acer. He is dubbed the “Italian Bill Gates". Lanci purchased the Dosio vineyard in La Morra a few years ago, which covers 45 hectares. vc
