The CEO of Rémy Cointreau, Jean-Marie Laborde, has said that sales of Champagne should exceed the "all-time high" of 327m bottles this year, and could reach 350 million - the theoretical
maximum production capacity of the region - by 2010.
This means price rises are inevitable. Accordingly, Rémy-Cointreau, which has a capacity of 12 million bottles, will increase its prices by 7% in 2008.This price factor will also lead to a reduction of the number of brands marketed by the big groups, because it is easier to support a limited number of brands.
The main brands of Rémy-Cointreau's Champagne division are Piper- Heidsieck and Charles Heidsieck.
