A new virtual platform designed to connect the global wine community with Australia’s wine industry will launch on 27 April through a virtual event. The platform, called Australian Wine Connect, is being launched by Wine Australia and has been developed so that Australian wineries can continue to market and sell their wines globally during a time of cancelled travel and trade expos. Being touted as a “first-of-its-kind,” the platform offers business-to-business matching services for retailers, importers and on-trade in Asia, the USA, Canada, the UK, and beyond.

The launch event will be hosted by freelance wine and drinks writer, Mike Bennie. During the launch, Bennie will preview the platform’s features and give an overview of activities to take place on the platform over the next twelve months which will include live gatherings, quarterly keynotes, panel discussions, monthly deep-dives and virtual tastings.

Wine Australia CEO Andreas Clark said of the platform, “Australian Wine Connect has been designed to generate powerful commercial outcomes for the global wine community. This dynamic approach will no doubt foster hundreds of lasting relationships between Australian wine producers and international wine trade, and we are very excited to help facilitate these conversations.”
