The board of directors of the Vini Soave and Recioto di Soave consortium has unanimously confirmed Sandro Gini in office. The oenologist, born in 1958, is an organic winemaker and runs the "Gini Sandro e Claudio" winery with his brother.

After the introduction of the 33 UGA (Unità Geografiche Aggiunte) site designations, Gini wants to continue to push the innovations in the large white wine DOC in his second mandate. Special attention will be paid to the regulation of environmental protection and production standards "in order to promote increasingly conscious viticulture". Another key issue is the protection of the landscape in the Soave growing area, which the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) included in the list of World Heritage Sites for Agriculture in 2019.

"I take up my mandate again in the awareness that the world has changed fundamentally. We need responsible, targeted and, above all, effective action for the members of the denomination in the future. I would like to see unity and the sharing of common goals such as adding value to the bottled wine of our origin, greater attention to the environment and sustainable practices and, above all, dialogue with institutions. These are challenging goals that require the commitment and passion of all Soave producers," Sandro Gini said after his re-election.

Also in office are Massimino Stizzoli and Matteo Inama as vice-presidents. vc
