Italy s new export markets in the east

Italy´s Minister for Agriculture Paolo De Castro has declared that his ministry will lead the export drive for Italian wines in the world market, reports the Italian news agency ANSA, is looking east for new markets. Together exports of Italian wine to Bulgaria and Romania reached some 4.5 million euros in value in 2005. With the almost certainty that both countries will become members of the EU in 2007, Italy hope to exploit the opportunity of further increasing their wine exports to both countries. The news in New Delhi is that De Castro is also planning a trip to India with the specific intention of promoting Italian wines there.
