The Bordeaux winery Château du Tertre has been sold. The purchase price is not known, the buyer is a French insurance company, which also remains unclear. This was confirmed to WEINWIRTSCHAFT by Tobias Lassak, the export manager responsible for Bordeaux. For the administration the family wants to found its own company, likewise one will employ promptly a new wine-growing estate director.

The owner of the approximately 52-hectare château in Margaux was for about 20 years the Albada Jelgersma family, which also owns the Caiarossa winery in Tuscany and Château Giscours in Margaux. According to various media reports, the family wants to focus on these two estates in the future. "Château du Tertre is a winery with great potential," Alexander Van Beek, managing director of the family's wineries, is quoted as saying. "The Albada Jelgersma family wants the winery to stand on its own two feet from now on, for the benefit of the estate and its teams."
