Purcari, one of Moldova's largest wine producers, supports Ukrainian refugees with its "Freedom Blend." The grapes for this come not only from the Republic of Moldova, but also from Ukraine itself and from Georgia. This is "a tribute to the people of these three countries as well as an act of gratitude for the heroic struggle and resistance of the Ukrainian people," Purcari says.

The company says it has helped more than 5,000 refugees since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 by providing emergency housing at the winery. Recently, profits from the sale of the wine have also started to benefit them.

The cuvée is made from Saperavi (65%), Rara Neagra (20%) and Bastardo (15%) grapes from the three aforementioned post-Soviet countries that have suffered or are now suffering from Russian provocations or Russian warfare in particular. The first Freedom Blend was launched in 2014 as a symbol of support following Russia's annexation of Crimea and subsequent Russian-Ukrainian conflicts.

Ukrainian producer Ukrainets Winery near Odessa (2021 annual production between 6 and 7 mill. liters) has also launched a charity campaign. When buying the wines, €0.50 per bottle will be donated to the "Come Back Alive" platform, which in turn supports Ukrainian defense. According to the Austrian import company Hieber Consulting, the winery is ready to deliver (as of mid-June).
