There seems to be celebrity growth in Provence. According to the media, actor and filmmaker George Clooney and his wife, lawyer Amal Alamuddin, have bought a vineyard there. It is the Canadel estate in the southern French town of Brignoles (Departement Var), according to the town hall.
Clooney’s estate is in prominent company. Château de Miraval, which belongs to the former Hollywood dream couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, is in the immediate vicinity, and George Lucas' estate is also close by.

But there seems to be a catch: according to the French news agency (AFP), another buyer is claiming this purchase for himself. The plaintiff had already bought the property for €6 million, his lawyer announced. According to sources, Clooney and Alamuddin paid between €8-10 million.
The complaint against the sellers, an Australian couple living in Monaco, is now before the Draguignan court. The processing of the case by the defence lawyers of the different parties is expected to take several months.

The Canadel estate has 172 hectares, of which less than 5 hectares are used for grape production. These have so far been vinified by the cooperative in Correns. ed
