The online trading platform and rating app Vivino wants to take off in the Australian market. According to media reports, the company is offering Australian wineries a 50 percent discount on commissions at launch if they offer their wines through the platform. Vivino has about 51 million users worldwide, about 800,000 of them in Australia.

"It's been a tough couple of years for winemakers and merchants in this market, but we've seen remarkable resilience in the domestic economy," James Fildes, the general manager of Vivino Australia who will run the business, is quoted as saying.

"This industry deserves a break, and Vivino can help Aussie winemakers by showing our users more of their wine, based on each individual's unique taste and price preferences. Our data is unmatched." aw
