Vinexpo Shanghai which should have taken place from 20 - 22 October will not take place. According to the organisers, Vinexposium and Comexposium China, the reason for cancellation was ongoing travel restrictions. According to the Asia-based news service Vino-Joy (https://vino-joy.com/2021/10/12/vinexpo-shanghai-2021-cancelled/), the official announcement of the cancellation was made on 11 October via the Chinese social media platform WeChat.

In the west, news of the non-event was also tucked into a September press release titled ‘An eventful season ahead for Vinexposium’ which listed the company’s exhibitions scheduled to be held over the next few months. Only the most attentive readers will noticed that "Vinexpo Shanghai, scheduled from 20 to 22 October, will not be running due to health restrictions in China which do not allow Vinexposium to guarantee a high-performance return on investment for its clients".

A physical event was still envisaged when the trade fair date was announced in May. Following an enquiry from Meininger’s, Vinexposium has confirmed the cancellation of the fair.

The two other big Asian wine fairs, ProWine Shanghai and Wine to Asia in Shenzhen are still due to take place.
