Alcoholic beverages may once again be sold in South Africa from July 26, 2021. This ends a four-week ban imposed at the end of June as a protective measure following stricter COVID-19 restrictions.
Wine and other alcoholic beverages for off-premise consumption can now be sold again in stores between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday. In restaurants, the curfew begins at 9 p.m.
To support the industry, the government has also suspended VAT on alcoholic products for three months. CG
