Russian trade fairs continue despite stock shortages

by Igor Serdyuk

Despite the shortage of wines and spirits on the Russian market, and numerous technical difficulties in import due to the new tax banderols, two of Moscow s wine and spirits trade shows scheduled for this autumn have not been, as has been often rumoured, cancelled. Interdrink is to take place as planned from the 7th to the 9th of November at the Expocenter, followed by Drinks Industry from the 21st to the 24th of November at Crocus Expo exhibition centre. October saw three major presentations organised by the French Embassy in Moscow and the interprofessional committees of Burgundy, Alsace and Bordeaux Grands Crus. The more consumer-oriented Food Show, which is to take place from the 1st to the 3rd of Decemberin Gostinny Dvor also counts on the participation of the wine and spirits industry. However, the major importers are reluctant to comment on their participation, being uncertain about their stocks.
