ProWine China appears to have hit its stride, attracting a number of new exhibitors, while previous ones expand their footprint.

Countries such as Austria and Portugal are expanding their dedicated pavilions, while newcomers such as Serbia and Bulgaria will also exhibit this year. Germany’s Federal Ministry for Food and Agriculture (BMEL) has come also joined with the German Wine Institute (DWI) to announce the largest national investment ever seen at this fair. Numerous producers from China will also be represented.

ProWine, an offshoot of the annual ProWein fair held in Düsseldorf, Germany, had a quiet start when it opened its doors in Shanghai in 2014. China has numerous fairs for trade members to choose from, including a major fair in Chengdu.

In 2018, however, ProWine has finally come into its own, with visitors reporting they value the high level of organization, the quality of the exhibitors and their wines, and the absence of any counterfeits.

ProWine China 2018 received 750 producers and distributors from 39 countries with 20% increase in exhibition space, with trade visitors up by 33.2% to 18,936 people. More visitors came from provinces and cities like Beijing, Guangdong, Xinjiang, Hainan, Shandong, Liaoning and Fujian.

The 2019 exhibition will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from 12 to 14 November 2019.
