ProWein 2021 has been cancelled

Germany’s new Covid-19 restrictions have made ProWein 2021 untenable.

ProWein 2021, scheduled to be held over five days in March 2021, has been cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions. ProWein will next take place from 27 to 29 March 2022.

"We did not take this decision lightly - on the contrary, we have very carefully examined the arguments for or against a trade fair in these dynamic pandemic times in intensive and close consultation with our partners and exhibitors. The decisive factor for us was, primarily, the interest of our exhibitors and visitors," said Erhard Wienkamp, managing director of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, which owns ProWein.

He went on to say that exhibitors now have certainty about the next ProWein and can plan accordingly.

ProWein 2021 was cancelled given the current high rate of Covid-19 infections and the restrictions that have resulted. On 25 November 2020, Germany’s federal government made it clear that trade fairs may not take place at present. Given this, ProWein 2021 was untenable, despite the many precautions that management had developed.
