The International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) will work in the future with large wine companies from the private sector. The cooperation is with Viña Concha y Toro (Chile), Moët-Hennessy (France), Sogrape (Portugal), Familia Torres (Spain) and Yalumba Family Winemakers (Australia). A corresponding agreement has been signed.
The aim of the partnership is to jointly promote research and development and to identify topics that are highly relevant for the international wine industry that should be researched more intensively. To this end, proposals will be accepted for projects worthy of support that are eligible for scientific scholarships.
"The OIV will foster a fruitful dialogue with important companies of the vitivinicultural sector to mutualise research and knowledge transfer efforts", the OIV says.
The newly formed consortium is still discussing concrete topics; a first on-site meeting is planned for October. It is not yet known whether and to what extent the five companies will contribute their financial power to the cooperation. aw
