The large South African winery Nederburg, based in Paarl, is appointing Samuel Viljoen, a long-time and experienced employee, as its new cellar master. "Samuel's winemaking skills are widely recognised," Niël Groenewald, Nederburg's managing director, comments in a press release. In addition, he praises Viljoens as detail-oriented and a team player.

Viljoen has been working in the cellar of Nederburg since 2007 and has been decisively responsible for the red wines since 2014. Now he is taking over the position of cellar master from Lizelle Gerber, who left the company for other interests. The studied oenologist had previously worked in boutique wineries, such as Domaine Serene, which was highly decorated by the American press, as well as in wineries in Oregon and South Africa.

Nederburg's wines are exported to over 80 countries. Although the assortment is multi-level, in this country the wines are mainly found on the shelves of food retailers. sw
