MUNDUS VINI - one of the world's leading wine competitions - is held in two parts. The first of these - the Spring Tasting - always takes place in February while the Summer Tasting follows at the end of August. The timing of both of these events is driven by harvest schedules in the northern and southern hemispheres, and by the global wine trade's annual rhythm of wine selection and marketing.

The Spring Tasting has also always preceded ProWein by a few weeks, so as to allow the winning wines to be available for tasting on  the MUNDUS VINI stand there.

This year, the wines will be at ProWein as usual - using a specially developed pandemic-safe protocol. However, given the postponement of ProWein to May, Christian Wolf, the competition director, decided to host a special Pop Up tasting on March 29, 2022, in the Saalbau hall in the heart of Neustadt an der Weinstraße, This town, around 90 minutes by car or train from Frankfurt, is home to Meininger Verlag publishing house.

Several hundred wines that have won a Silver, Gold or Grand Gold medal at the Spring Tasting will be available for free tasting at several thematically oriented tasting counters - for example by country or region.

This will allow buyers and retailers to taste the right wines at their own pace and according to their individual requirements. It will also ensure maximum safety during the tasting, as places are limited and only a certain number of people will be able to taste at the same time at each tasting bar.

Trade visitors will receive all the results of the MUNDUS VINI Spring Tasting digitally in advance for optimal preparation, and there will be tasting booklets on site.

Attendance will cost €25, with all proceeds going to winegrowers in  the Ahr to help their recovery from last year's disastrous storms.

Details of how to reserve, will be published on this site
