French luxury goods group LVMH is betting on artificial intelligence (AI): together with Google's cloud service, Google Cloud, the company has announced a partnership. According to the joint announcement, the primary aim is to strengthen Maisons, the luxury brand arm of LVMH, and optimise business processes.

This will be done, for example, by using AI and machine learning (ML) technologies to analyse data and improve demand forecasts and inventory management. But the customer should also benefit they say, namely by enhancing the "customer experience through personalisation". But, they assure, "in accordance with strict data protection and security requirements".

According to LVMH, AI will become an increasingly important part of every piece of the value chain in the future, from "product development to the supply chain to interfaces with employees, partners, customers".

Part of the partnership is also to be the establishment of a "Data and AI Academy" in Paris to explore further innovation potential and to train employees.

For us, privacy, personalisation, and luxury are synonymous, and that will always remain true. The new opportunities offered to our customers are exactly what our talented teams are working for at LVMH: a unique and unforgettable experience,” said Toni Belloni, Group Managing Director, LVMH.

“We are proud to be entering into such an innovative and extensive partnership with LVMH to power its innovation through cloud technology and AI capacities. Together, we can help drive the future of customer experience in the luxury industry,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO, Google Cloud. aw
