International alcoholic beverage market research firm International Wines and Spirits Record (IWSR) has announced the acquisition of Wine Intelligence. According to the company, Wine Intelligence is the world's leading wine consumption research firm. IWSR is among the largest analysts of the international alcoholic beverage market. Both companies are based in London, UK.

"This acquisition enables the IWSR and Wine Intelligence teams to build a world-class consumer behaviour division focused exclusively on the global beverage alcohol industry," according to a statement from both companies.

Wine Intelligence was founded in 2002 and conducts projects on behalf of wine companies in more than 35 wine markets. IWSR is active in 160 countries in market analysis of beer, wine, spirits and other alcoholic beverages.

"As Covid-19 reshapes consumer behaviour and beverage alcohol drinking occasions, industry stakeholders are looking for a deeper understanding of the consumer attitudes driving the market," said Mark Meek, CEO of IWSR.

The acquisition follows a decade of collaboration between IWSR and Wine Intelligence; recent projects include the IWSR Covid-19 Consumer Tracker, a consumer sentiment report series that tracks the ongoing impact of Covid-19 on alcohol consumption and attitudes over an 18-month period.

"We are thrilled to join the IWSR family after nearly 10 years of our organizations working together on behalf of our customers," said Lulie Halstead, CEO of Wine Intelligence.
