The wine estate, which is located about 40 km west of Cahors and was previously owned by Serge and Martine Costes, comprises a total of 35 ha, of which 20 ha are planted with Malbec vines. It is the twelfth vineyard to come under the ownership of the former professional rugby player.
As announced by the wine estate in a press release, the aim is to produce "an expressive Cahors, following in the footsteps of the appellation's great names. We are taking over the estate in excellent health, and during the 2022 harvest, which looks very promising." Domaine de Cause has just been converted to organic and is to be cultivated biodynamically in future, as are all Bertrand's other vineyards, the company affirmed.
In addition to the new acquisition, the Gérard Bertrand company also owns Château l'Hospitalet, Château de Villemajou, Château Des Karantes, Château La Sauvageonne, Château de la Soujeole, Château Laville Bertrou, Clos d'Ora, Clos Du Temple, Domaine de l'Estagnaire, Domaine de Cigalus and Domaine de L'Aigle.
