Wines of South Africa (WOSA) has confirmed that South Africa's premier wine fair, Capewine, will be held in Cape Town from 5-7 October 2022, for the first time since 2018. Following the event’s triannual schedule, it should have opened its doors last year. But, like every other wine fair in the western half of the world, it had to be postponed.

The 2022 edition, which will be complemented as usual by seminars and themed tastings, will bear the motto ‘Sustainability 360’. This refers to the most comprehensive possible view of sustainability, but also to South Africa’s history of 360 years of viticulture. For sustainability, WOSA defines the three core elements of people, place and prosperity/success. At the heart of this mission statement are environmental awareness, social justice and long-term profitability for the entire industry.

Siobhan Thompson, CEO of WOSA, says that she and her team are "looking forward to welcoming the international wine industry back to South Africa in October 2022. The last 18 months have been a turbulent time for our winemakers. At the same time, however, we have seen so much support and enthusiasm for our wines. Our guests will be able to learn about the status quo of our wine industry as well as enjoy the beautiful ambience of Cape Town and the fascinating scenery of the nearby wine regions."
