Applications for the world’s first wine-related start-up incubator are now open. Bernard Magrez Start-Up Win is in its second year as the first incubator to focus entirely on wine, viticulture, wine tourism and digitalization. Last year, during its initial launch, ten innovators were selected to participate with a further ten more-established start-ups also participating.

Developers, innovators and entrepreneurs can submit applications for three levels of support, depending on the current status of their enterprise. The Primeurs program, for start-ups in their infancy, provides – among other things – personal support from Magrez and his team and a workspace at Magrez’s Château Le Sartre, located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation of Bordeaux. The deadline to apply is 30 September.

Magrez himself is a renowned entrepreneur and innovator and a native of Bordeaux. He got his start in selling his own port and whisky and moved on to wine with the launch of the Sidi Brahim brand. Now, at 85, Magrez owns 43 vineyards around the world, including four Grand Cru Classés in Bordeaux and vineyards in Morocco, Spain, Portugal, Japan, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, and the US. Beyond wine, Magrez is also a patron of art and music, establishing the Bernard Magrez Cultural Institute for art sponsorship in 2011. He is also substantially involved in the support of the Bergonié Foundation in Bordeaux, the International Research Institute for Rare Cancers, and The House of Hope – a Thai orphanage housing 80 children.
