Bottega Revenues Hit €86m

The Bottega winery and distillery in Bibano, best known for its gold Prosecco bottles that sell widely in duty-free outlets turned over €86m in 2022, 30% more than the previous year. Having been hit by the lockdowns in 2020 and 2021, it benefited from the revival of travel and travel retail last year.

The export business generates 90% of Bottega's turnover, with main markets including Canada, Germany, UK, US, Netherlands, Japan and Switzerland.

"Prosecco accounts for 40% of our revenues, while other sparkling wines come to around 25%. This is followed by grappa, gin, liqueurs and creams. Our absolute bestseller is undoubtedly the Prosecco 'Bottega Gold', also in the rosé variant (Bottega Pink Gold and Prosecco Doc Rosé). The Prosecco 'Il Vino dei Poeti', our Limoncino and our pistachio cream variety are also very popular," says Sandro Bottega, owner and managing director of the company. The leap in sales, he says, is mainly due to the continued global success of Prosecco.

Bottega's international set of Prosecco bars, contribute 25% to total turnover The company opened five of these bars in 2022 alone, including a pair at Venice and London Stansted airports. 2023 began with the inauguration of the Prosecco Bar in Istanbul Airport, with another six to follow this year. The Bottega brand is served on 67 airlines and sold in 250 airports. The company estimates that the brand is known by over one billion people.

New in 2023 is the "Lemon Spritz", a ready-to-drink beverage made of sparkling wine and lemon essence, which is sold in cans and and in 20-cl bottles. VC
