Biondi Santi is now wholly owned by Christopher Descours' French group Epi. After Jacopo Biondi Santi left his ancestral winery in mid-2019, his son Tancredi was also bought out in June 2020. Epi had invested in the Brunello legend in 2016 and in 2019 embarked on a ten-year restoration plan for the vineyards and winery.

150 years after its founding, the birthplace of Brunello launched large formats in March 2021 for the first time: 1.5 litres for the 2015 Brunello and 1.5, 3 and 6 litres for the 2013 Riserva. "Biondi Santi is famous in the world for the longevity of its wines, so introducing large formats is a logical decision for me," says managing director Giampiero Bertolini. For the past three years, old vintages have also been reissued; the sensational Riserva 1983 has been available since March. vc
