Hungarianwines.eu, an independent online publication about Hungarian wines, has launched the third edition of its popular online wine writing contest.
The first prize is an all-inclusive four-day trip to Hungary this August, visiting three major wine regions.
To enter, simply submit articles written in 2020 that were published before 15 July 2020, on any of these topics: Cabernet Franc, great winery architecture, and/or Tokaj with fresh eyes.
This is the third year of the competition. Last year there were 57 entries from around the world, including from writers in the USA, UK, Russia and New Zealand.
After the entries are submitted, a two-part judging process takes place. First, a jury evaluates the articles and selects 18 finalists – three in each category, with one group in English and the other Hungarian. After that, the judging is opened up to the audience, who votes for the winners.
This year the jury includes Tamlyn Currin (JancisRobinson.com), Felicity Carter (Meininger’s Wine Business International), Richard Siddle (The Buyer), and Zsuzsa Toronyi, award winner marketer and managing director of the London based Wines of Hungary UK marketing agency.
Articles can be submitted until 15 July in English or Hungarian. The English language winner will receive an all-inclusive four-day trip to Hungary on 15-18 August with winery visits in Tokaj, Szekszárd and Villány wine regions. The prize includes a flight to Budapest from another European city. Additional prizes include wine packages, vouchers for wine hotels, wine dinners, winery visits. All finalists will receive an invitation to the award ceremony event, which will take place on 16 August. Last year's absolute winner was Ruma Shing from India.
