Interesting master classes, exciting awards and varied topics - Meininger Verlag has published its trade show program.

And, of course, in 2022 MUNDUS VINI award-winning wines from the MUNDUS VINI Spring Tasting will be presented again, this time directly opposite in hall 4.

10 hrs: MUNDUS VINI Best of Show Ceremony

Presentation of the special awards "Best of Show" at the 30th International MUNDUS VINI wine award to the competition’s best wines. Hosted by Christian Wolf, Director Degustation.
 

12 hrs: Chasselas Fascination

This tasting presents the variety of the traditional variety Chasselas with its full potential: fresh fruity aperitif wine, elegant mineral accompaniment to food, or deep Grand Cru with great aging potential. Hosted by sommelière Yvonne Heistermann.
 

14 hrs: Discoveries from Portugal – Expert tips for your portfolio

Portugal specialist David Schwarzwälder shows you selected Portuguese wines – with and without distribution in Germany.
1 pm: Soul Wines Douro – Portugal presents the unique port wines

Discover great port wines, a lot of history and traditions around the subject, both from old-known houses and young up-and-coming talents. Hosted by sommelier Axel Probst.
 

15 hrs: Champagne and the subject of aging

Aging potential is a hallmark of Champagne. The style is also significantly influenced by the duration of the yeast storage and the subsequent bottle aging. Hosted by Sascha Speicher, editor-in-chief of Meiningers Sommelier.

12 hrs: Wild wines from the Balkans

"Vranec" means Black Stallion – and the wines from this autochthonous grape variety are just as wild and powerful. Wine journalist Thomas Brandl presents the still little-known wine country of North Macedonia – and a selection of fine wines awarded at the Mundus Vini Spring Tasting.
 

13 hrs: Georgia – Cradle of Wine

Qvevri, Saperavi & Co – get to know the peculiarities of the Georgian wine world! We will taste exciting autochthonous grape varieties in white and red. Hosted by sommèliere and winemaker Inge Mainzer.
 

14 hrs: Rive and Cartizze: A Comparison of the Royal Class of Prosecco Superiore DOCG

Discover together with sommelier and author Sebastian Bordthäuser the exciting world of the DOCG Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore with its territorial selections, the fillets of the DOCG – Rive and Cartizze.

10 hrs: Meininger's International Rosé Award

Presentation of the "Best of Show" and "Best Producer" awards from the second edition of Meininger's International Rosé Award, which critically tasted over 1,000 rosé wines from around the world in April 2022. Hosted by Christian Wolf, Director Degustation.
 

11 hrs: Top wines from Switzerland

In this tasting, join us on a trip to all six Swiss wine regions and get to know excellent wines – from indigenous to modern through the ages. Moderated by sommelière Yvonne Heistermann.
 

12 hrs: Northern Greece's USP

Spectacular landscapes, between peaks and the Mediterranean, on mountains and plateaus – this is the setting in which the best wines of the Greek north are created. Discover with sommelier Peer Holm the diversity of wines from autochthonous grape varieties and individual terroirs.
 

13 hrs: Alcohol-free top

Alcohol-free wines are getting better and better. That's good, because they also fit perfectly into the time of a health-conscious public due to their low calorie count. Clemens Gerke, editor-in-chief of Weinwirtschaft, presents different examples that have convinced in tastings.
 

14 hrs: Alcohol-free spirits? Trend or hype?

Alcohol-free is the trend par excellence, and the spirits industry is also dealing with it intensively. Tim Allgaier, spirits expert at Meininger Verlag, and Christian Wolf, Director Degustation ISW, present a selection of the best "alcohol-free distillates" from Meininger's International Spirits Award ISW.
 

15 hrs: Trade fair finale for Craft Beer – trend or niche?

Meininger's International Craft Beer Award took place in mid-April for the 9th time. We invite you to a relaxed end to the trade fair with selected, award-winning beer specialities from all over the world.
 

Mundus Vini Tasting Area

At the MUNDUS VINI Tasting Bar, the award-winning wines of the 30th Great International Wine Award MUNDUS VINI (Spring Tasting 2022) will be presented. Over 7,500 wines from all over the world were tasted and evaluated over 6 days by a 280-strong international jury and the best wines were awarded the recognized MUNDUS VINI medals.

Visitors can get an overview of the current qualities and get directly in touch with the respective wineries at ProWein.
