Chateau Montelena to be sold to owner of Cos d'Estournel

by Kevin McCallum at the Press Democrat

Chateau Montelena, one of the two Napa wineries that shocked the wine world in 1976, is being sold to a wealthy French vintner. Michel Reybier, the owner of the Bordeaux chateau Cos d’Estournel and several hotels, is purchasing the 167-acre Calistoga estate from owner Jim Barrett for an undisclosed sum, according to people familiar with the transaction.
